The screenshots below shows all the images that are currently in the Camera folder where only the top one appears in the gallery and only the top one is in the Images Category in "My Files". If I look in "My Files" I can see them but they do not appear in "Music Player" which means that all my alarm tones have been set back to their default tracks i.e. The same applies to the music files that I have. If I install an app such as QuickPic all the images are displayed in there, both new and old however I cannot use this for sharing images to facebook etc so it's not ideal. It's almost like they are hidden from the gallery. If I look in "My Files" I can see that the old images are in the exact same location as the new photo that I've just taken. If I take new pictures on the camera, they appear in the gallery fine, but the old ones do not. I've done nothing out of the ordinary with my phone today so cannot identify what has happened. NOW, 2 weeks after I got a new phone IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN! The images were there this morning and come this evening they have all disappeared from the gallery and again the music has disappeared. However, 5 days later it happened again so I went back to Carphone Warehouse where I purchased the contract from and demanded a new phone as it had to be an issue with the phone as I couldn't find a record of it happening to anyone else and Samsung had already eliminated a software problem. When it happened the third time I was getting pretty annoyed and took it to my local Samsung Repair Centre where they said it was a software problem and they would have to reinstall Android and it would be sorted. It then happened a second time a few days later and so I did another factory reset. The first time it happened I thought that it may have been a glitch so did a factory reset and everything was fine again (although it does take about 3 hours for me to get the phone just how I like it). I can still see the files in the default file manager "My Files". I'm not sure what causes the photos and music to disappear as it seems to be totally random. I also have quite a lot of music on the phone which doesn't display in the "Music Player" anymore. You can simply connect your phone to your computer and browse to the directory to accomplish this, or use a file manager on your phone configured to view hidden dot files.I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (64GB) running Android Lollipop 5.0.2 which I've had since release day (April 10th 2015) and as the title mentions, there seems to be an issue in that my images are no longer displaying in the default gallery app. nomedia file from the directory and the contents became visible in the Gallery app. Solution: All I had to do was delete the. In my case, some application that I installed must have put this file in my Download directory, hiding all of the images there from the Gallery app (and others as well). This prevents media scanner from reading your media files and providing them to other apps through the MediaStore content provider. nomedia in your external files directory (note the dot prefix in the filename). This is documented in the Android Developer documentation under Storage Options and, as of this writing appears in a sidebar as follows: nomedia file in the directory I was trying to see in the Gallery app. I had this issue on a completely different phone and version of Android, but both the issue and the explanation can be universal.
